Patience Agbabi

Patience Agbabi: Telling Tales 

Wednesday Novemeber 15, 7:00pm

Patience Agbabi is a poet and performer who has been featured on radio and TV worldwide. The author of four books, her latest, Telling Tales,published in 2014, is a vivid retelling of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales for the 21st century.  Her other poetry collections include R.A.W. (1995), Transformatrix (2000) and Bloodshot Monochrome (2008). She studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University, and is a former Poet Laureate of Canterbury. In 2004 she was nominated as one of the UK’s Next Generation Poets. Patience was a recipient of The Cholmondeley Award and was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Prize for New Work in Poetry. She has taught Creative Writing at several UK universities including Greenwich, Cardiff and Kent. She is currently a Fellow in Creative Writing at Oxford Brookes University

Walk + Talk with the Curator of "Esteban Lisa: The Abstract Cabinet" Elizabeth Thompson Goizueta

Wednesday September 11, 12:00pm

The McMullen Museum invites visitors to join Elizabeth Thompson Goizueta, curator of Esteban Lisa: The Abstract Cabinet, live for an informal tour and Q+A session in the Monan Gallery.

Prof. Goizueta will introduce major themes presented in the exhibition and offer details on Lisa, the artist, his methods, and his metaphysical philosophies. 

Join us on the McMullen’s Facebook page, where we’ll be streaming the tour live. Visitors are welcome to ask questions along the way.

To join us at the Museum, register ahead of time at Seats limited. 


Jazz: "The String Variations"

Monday October 2, 8:00pm

Let's get jazzy. "The String Variations" presents: Tom Lee on flute, Brad Hatfield on piano, John Lockwood on bass, and Gustavo Assis-Brasil on guitar. 

The performance will be held in Gasson Hall RM 100
