Teixeira Teaches Community-Based Participatory Research in New MSW Course

Eight Boston College School of Social Work (BCSSW) MSW candidates are engaged in a novel Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) course designed and taught by Assistant Professor Samantha Teixeira that provides hands-on experience in the context of an existing community-engaged research partnership. In the course, students design and implement a specific project, then reflect on the possibilities for using CBPR in future settings related to community development, community organizing, and academic research.

BCSSW Doctoral Program names David Takeuchi 2018 Mentor of the Year

Professor and Dorothy Book Scholar David Takeuchi has received the Doctoral Program’s 2018 Mentor of the Year Award. Student nominations cited he tremendous support he provides in their career development and in their work as researchers. He also “exemplifies the role of mentor” and his “door is always open.” One student said it best, “Dr. Takeuchi is a blessing and a gift to the BCSSW community, and our program thrives because of individuals like him.”
