Clinical Assistant Professor and Director, Clinical Learning and Simulation Labs
Amy Smith, D.N.P., M.S.N., CNM is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Connell School of Nursing. She received her master’s degree in nursing from Yale University and her doctor of nursing practice from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, focused on simulation based education. Her clinical background is as a certified nurse midwife, providing full scope obstetrical care in a tertiary care center. Dr. Smith’s interests focus on transforming education through innovative pedagogy and curriculum.
Dr. Smith is the director of the Clinical Learning and Simulation Center. In this role, she provides leadership and support to the faculty to integrate innovative simulation based education into the nursing curriculum. Her goal is to provide engaging learning experiences that help students make the connections between acquiring knowledge and using knowledge.
