Patricia Reid Ponte

Clinical Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Reid Ponte is a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing, where she also holds a nine month joint appointment with the Woods College of Advanced Studies, Master of Health Administration Program. She also holds part-time position as Professor of Practice at Simmons University, College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences.

Dr. Reid Ponte is the President of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Her scholarly work focuses on health care quality and safety, patient and family centered care, interdisciplinary leadership and organizational credentialing. Dr. Reid Ponte is a board of trustee member of the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA.

Dr. Reid Ponte recently completed 17 years of service as the Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Executive Director of Oncology Nursing and Clinical Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and during that time served as a project co-pi of a U54 and U56 grant establishing an accelerated BSN to PhD Program and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program in Oncology and Health Disparities with the University of MA, Boston.

Before that, she has served in clinical and leadership positions at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and the Tufts-New England Medical Center and has taught part time at a number of local universities and colleges. She received a research intensive Doctor of Nursing Science degree in 1989, and a Masters of Nursing Science degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
