Message from the Chairperson

Finance is a key component for the success of any business venture.  From simple student loans, car purchases, and mortgages, to complex financing deals from venture capital and private equity, understanding basic capital market principles is essential.

Founded in 1949, the Boston College Finance Department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs. Recently ranked 9th by U.S. News & World Report in its Best Undergraduate Business Programs Rankings (Business Specialty-Finance) and 23rd in its Best Graduate Business Schools for Finance, the Finance Department has an established reputation as a leading research and teaching institution.

We offer fundamental courses such as basic principles, corporate finance, investments, as well as a large variety of electives in security analysis, investment banking, and asset management, which assist our graduates in facing the ever-changing global economic environment, and provide them with the most advanced tools to keep innovating in this exciting industry.

In keeping with Boston College's Jesuit traditions, the Finance Department provides a unique academic setting where values, service, and the pursuit of professional excellence are prized. Our dedicated faculty provide one-on-one consultation with students on everything from coursework to career choices.

Outside the classroom, students benefit from an extensive alumni network which provides internships and career opportunities.
