Jane Flanagan, Ph.D., RN, AHN-BC, ANP-BC, FAAN, is an associate professor and the program director of the Adult Gerontology Graduate Program at the Connell School of Nursing. She has appointments as a nurse scientist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Yvonne Munn Center and as an associate clinical scientist at the Phyllis Cantor Center at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Dr. Flanagan is the Editor for the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge,which is focused on refinement of nursing language and the integration and meaningful use of the electronic health record. She is an appointed Fellow in the NANDA-I; serves as the President for the Society of Rogerian Scholars and is on the Board of Directors in the International Association of Human Caring (IAHC). Dr. Flanagan is a certified nurse practitioner and the coordinator of the Nurses Improving Care for Hospitalized Elders (NICHE) program at MGH.
Dr. Flanagan has several active grants supporting her work including exploring the post hospital disposition of older adults; the efficacy of holistic, complementary interventions for women with breast cancer; and the feasibility and efficacy of implementing a physical activity program for caregivers of older adults.
