Fr. Walter “Skipp” Conlan, S.J. is working through the Division of University Mission and Ministry with special emphasis on developing pastoral outreach and assistance to Boston College staff and alumni

He wants to find out "What can BC do to support you?”  We know that all of our employees have lives outside of the workplace that impact their ability to perform well and securely.  We also know that they do not always have help in coping with the various kinds of crises and difficulties that life throws at us.  That is what Fr. Skipp is looking to help you with.

Bereavement counseling; confidential spiritual guidance and direction, pastoral support and assistance in times of need (regardless of religious affiliation); pastoral visits to employees who might be hospitalized; religious celebrations like the Staff Advent/Christmas Mass; support during times of loss (wakes, funerals, etc.)

Current projects, and programs in development:

Spiritual Direction, Advent/Christmas Mass for Staff, Support Group for Staff Caring for Aging Parents (with Katie McInnes Dittrich, GSSW); Healing Masses; Alumni Memorial Masses, Meditation groups for staff; and Staff retreat opportunities.

Fr. Skipp would like to receive your feedback on programs or services that you think might be helpful to you.  Please let us know what would help support you spiritually in your life and work here at BC.

You are important to us. As a community, not just a workplace, we strive to connect you to as many resources as we can to help you succeed and grow. You already are familiar with Pat Touzin, Director of Faculty/Staff Assistance Programs who offers a very extensive support system for all Faculty and Staff. Fr. Skipp will work closely with her and will also supplement her good work.

We look forward to hearing your suggestions.
